THE INTELLECTUAL RIGOUR BEHIND IT... VB-HR Rating is the complementary product to VaLUENTiS' VB-HR System that helps HR functions to measure and value human capital management performance. The intellectual rigour behind the VB-HR Rating has involved over ten years' research together with collated data/experience from over 200 client projects. We have researched over 1500 seminal journal papers and reports stretching back over 40 years, covering topics such as high performance work systems; employee engagement; organisational behaviour; leadership; value based management; performance measurement; financial economics; HR function effectiveness; and outsourcing, to name but a few. We have formed the view that attempts to identify or clarify the role of human capital and human capital management (HCM) within organisations have had varied success and, as a result, previous attempts to measure human capital and HCM have gained limited acceptance due to a number of shortcomings. We believe that these failures stem from a number of factors, which the VB-HR Rating explicity addresses by: |

providing a model that differentiates human capital management of the organisation from the HR function and acknowledging that these are not necessarily the same in view of this, recognising that an organisation's line management is as responsible for human capital management as the HR function itself acknowledging the number and complexity of the discrete activities performed by the HR function grounding assessment on a combination of inputs (HR activities) and outcomes (e.g. absence rates) evaluating overall human capital management at a comparative level with the assignment of an overall rating, rather than attempting to place any arbitrary or uncorroborated financial value upon human capital providing a suite of HC metrics that have |
